Author Biography

Holly Morris, an American author, television presenter, documentary producer and director, was born in 1965 in Chicago, Illinois. Her father, Johnny Morris was a former professional football player and her mother, Jeannie Morris, a sports writer and reporter. Holly Morris was an editorial director of Seal Press, a publishing company that was acquired in 2003 by Avalon and then in 2007 by Perseus. In her capacity as an editorial director, Holly Morris acquired and edited fiction and non-fiction on different topics such as health, international politics, feminism and travel. Holly Morris is the executive writer, producer and host of the eight-part PBS documentary series named Adventure Divas. She wrote Adventure Divas: A book that was named a New York Times Editors’ Choice. As a correspondent and producer, Morris has travelled widely to make programs in countries like India, Bangladesh, Cuba, Iran, Gabon, Borneo, Brazil, Guyana, Malawi, Niger, Zambia, Syria, Ukraine, and so on. Holly has been working as a National Geographic Today’s correspondent and covering stories for the environmental series Outdoor Investigations. She is one of the primary hosts of Treks in a Wild World and one of many hosts of Globe Trekker, the television travel show that was originally broadcast as Lonely Planet Holly Morris founded PowderKeg Writers’ Residency in Brooklyn, New York in 2010. She directed and produced “The Babushkas of Chernobyl” alongside with Anne Bogart, a documentary that premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 2015.
