Anderson Hays Cooper was born in New York, Unites States on June 3, 1967. Cooper is the younger son of the writer Wyatt Cooper and artist, fashion designer, writer and heiress Gloria Vanderbilt. He is a descendant of the business magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt of Vanderbilt shipping and railroad fortune.
He is an American journalist, author, and television personality. Anderson Cooper was a news correspondent on ABC and CNN before hosting his own show, Anderson Cooper 360. Anderson Cooper was graduated from Yale University in Political Science Degree. During this time, he was a summer intern at the CIA while studying political science. He then went on to pursue journalism with no formal journalist education and is a self-proclaimed ‘news junkie’. He took a break in the early 1990s and went to live in Vietnam where he studied at the Vietnam National University and studied the Vietnamese language.
Cooper covered a number of important stories in 2005, including the tsunami damage in Sri Lanka; the Cedar Revolution in Beirut, Lebanon the death of Pope John Paul II and the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
Cooper has written a book Dispatches from the Edge: A Memoir of War, Disasters, and Survival, He won many awards including Bronze Telly, GLAAD Media Award, Emmy Award and National Order of Honor and Merit.
